Grundy County Memorial Hospital | Live Well | Fall 2018

3 While I know the basics of weight loss, I decided I needed more tools/support to get in better health. While joining a group thing generally isn’t my style, I joined the class knowing I needed to improve my health. I’ve appreciated the knowledge and encouragement that I have kindly received from Crystal [Petersen, RDN, LD] and Brandi [Tripp, RN]. Along this journey I’ve lost weight, reduced my back pain, and increased the amount and types of exercise I do. When I feel myself questioning my dedication, I ask myself these questions: Which GCMH lifestyle program is right for you ? My doctor says it’s important for me to lose weight to reduce my blood pressure and my risk for heart disease. Help! I’ve tried every diet under the sun! TRY Live Well Healthy Lifestyle Challenge This class offers the information and support needed to achieve and maintain a healthy weight while positively impacting blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and your risk for chronic diseases, like type 2 diabetes. This program features intensive coaching and lifestyle modification and has been proven to be effective in delaying or preventing type 2 diabetes in those who have higher than normal blood sugar levels.* * Centers for Disease Control and Prevention I need motivation to focus on better eating habits. TRY Nutrition Coaching If you are in need of one-on-one sessions to recharge a healthy lifestyle, this may be for you. It’s easier to shed 3 or 4 unwanted pounds as soon as they appear than it is to take off the 30 pounds they might become down the road. Individual sessions with a registered dietitian/ nutritionist can help you with food shopping and prep. TRY Maintain, Don’t Gain Avoid weight gain during the holidays by joining this simple challenge with a team or on your own. Program begins with weigh-in before Thanksgiving, and provides you with motivation and accountability for weight maintenance through New Year’s. Cost is $5; enroll at GCMH_Info@unitypoint.org . I’m at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. My doctor says that without changes, I’m likely to be a diabetic in a few years. What are you waiting for? ●   ● What will my health be like in six months or a year? ●   ● How will I feel if I quit this in six months or a year? ●   ● Most importantly, how will my family be impacted if I don’t keep up this life change? Class details and registration information are on page 4. A RECENT HEALTHY LIFESTYLE PARTICIPANT SHARES HER MOTIVATION—AND SUCCESS!
