Grundy County Memorial Hospital | Live Well | Winter 2021

Centered on excellence and you Thanks to your input, GCMH has ranked in the top 5% for 12 consecutive years Surveys have been part of the assessment of patient care at Grundy County Memorial Hospital for many years. Whether you choose care in our Emergency Department, are in the hospital’s Inpatient Department for a day or more, or visit Outpatient services such as therapy, lab, radiology, surgery, cardiac rehabilitation or the Specialty Clinic, it is likely that you will be mailed or texted a survey. GCMH uses national health care consulting firm Press Ganey to administer the survey process. Monthly reports give us a “scorecard” of how our hospital is perceived by our patients. This data is also compared to hundreds of hos- pitals around the country, and Press Ganey annually recognizes hospitals who stand out among their peers. GCMH has achieved national recognition for scoring in the top 5% of hospitals for 12 consecutive years—which is an extraor- dinary accomplishment that few hospitals have achieved. While consistent attention is given to making each patient feel welcome, comfort- able and safe in our care, we could not have achieved this distinction each year since 2009 without YOU! Thank you to each of you for choosing Grundy County Memorial Hospital–UnityPoint Health for your health care. We also appreci- ate the feedback you provide via after-visit surveys. Letting us know about the care you’ve received is how we maintain excellence. Your voice matters—please keep those surveys coming! 2 Grundy County Memorial Hospital–UnityPoint Health is improv- ing awareness of the cost of health care services by providing cost estimates in advance of scheduled health care services. For instance, if you have diagnostic services scheduled with the lab; radiology services such as x-ray, CT scan, MRI or ultrasound; or a service such as a sleep study or surgery, a cost estimate is available to you. The estimate is based on your health insurance plan and your co-pay, deductible or other out-of-pocket expense that your health insurance requires. Simply inquire when you are scheduling your service and request a cost estimate before your scheduled service. Beginning this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is requiring hospitals to provide access to detailed price information for 300 health care services. GCMH is working to implement this on the hospital’s website. Look for more information on GCMH’s com- mitment to providing patients with easier access to out-of-pocket cost estimates later this year. GCMH’s Outpatient services, including surgery, therapy, lab, radiology and the Specialty Clinic, are among the top 5% of hospitals in the nation for Patient Experience.
